Personal stuff inside.
*sigh*. Everything was going good for a little while until an asteroid sized shit hit the moonfan.
My roommates broke up. They’re both good friends of mine, so it sucks to have to watch that. Living here required 3 incomes and, while both had stable careers and I started a 3rd job this year, I don’t know what that’s going to mean for the immediate future for the two of us that remain.
My niece-but-not-really-because-it’s-not-a-blood-relation’s home is pretty much falling apart. Mom and dad beat the shit out of each other, the cops came, apparently dad had a brick hidden somewhere in the house, child protection services got involved, they all had to move out, dad’s probably going away for a long time, mom could go to jail too because being with dad is in violation of a court order now and she won’t leave him...it’s a mess. A huge mess.
Whenever I get to see her, it’s always a joy. She really brightens my day in a way no one else can, and I do the same for her. She’s the closest thing I have to a daughter. It’s honestly tearing me up inside watching all this happen to her, and being just a close family friend plus my 70 hr/week commitment between 3 jobs means there isn’t much I can do to help. She has extended family (her real uncle and grandmother) that are there for her, but I wish there were something I could do too.
Damnit. Everything was finally looking up this year. WTF happened?

Even if nobody comments much, it doesn’t mean that nobody’s listening. It sounds like you are striving to be the best friend, the best son, the best person you can be, and you are working hard to provide for yourself. That’s about all a person can do, and way more than many would do. Sometimes, you can take stock and conclude that in spite of all of the adversity surrounding you, you are doing the best you can and that can be enough. Love your people.

I don’t know what to say to help, that does massively suck. I hope this brightens your mood for at least a couple minutes though:
